Yes, admission is based strictly on CUET (UG)-2026 scores.
What are the basic eligibility requirements?
Candidates must have appeared in CUET (UG) 2026 in the required subjects, passed Class 12 (or equivalent) with the specified subjects, and met any additional program-specific criteria.
Does appearing in CUET guarantee admission?
No, you must also register on the BHU CAP-UG portal and participate in seat allotment.
Do Class 12 marks affect merit?
No, merit is determined solely by the CUET-UG normalised score. Class 12 percentage carries zero weight and is used only for tie-breaking.
Where can I find program-specific eligibility?
It is available in the Undergraduate Information Bulletin (UGIB-2026) on the BHU website.
What if my 12th subject is not in the list?
Select "Other" and map it to the closest available subject.
III
Registration & Application
How do I apply/register for BHU CAP-UG 2026?
Visit the official CAP-UG portal, click "New Registration," and log in using your CUET (UG) 2026 application number and date of birth. Fill in personal and academic details, choose program preferences, upload documents, pay the registration fee, and submit before the deadline.
What is the registration fee, and how do I pay it?

Can I change or reorder my preferences?
Yes, any number of times before the registration deadline closes. Once the deadline passes, the final preference list is locked for all subsequent rounds.
Can I edit my form after final submission?
No, editing is not permitted once the form is successfully locked and submitted.
Can I change my category in CAP if chosen in CUET?
Yes, you can alter the category selected in CUET (UG)-2026.
Whose bank details should I provide?
Provide your own or your parent/guardian's bank details, used for any potential refunds.
Can I use my mobile phone to fill out the form?
It is strongly recommended to use a desktop or laptop to avoid technical errors.
Can I preview my form before locking it?
Yes, always preview your "Preference Selection" and profile before final submission.
IV
Fee Payment & Refund
How and when do I pay the admission fee?
After each allotment round, pay the round-wise fee online within 48 hours of allotment. This applies even if you choose to "Float" (upgrade); non-payment cancels the seat.
Is the CAP registration fee refundable?
No, the registration fee is non-refundable.
How can I pay the admission fee?
Online via Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI.
What if I don't pay the admission fee on time?
Your allotted seat is cancelled automatically, and you lose further regular round opportunities.
Can I get a full refund of the admission fee?
Yes, if you withdraw before the last date of admission set by BHU. The refund process usually begins within three months after admissions close.
Is the Spot Round fee refundable?
No, the ₹1,000 Spot Round fee is non-refundable.
Do I pay extra if my seat is upgraded?
You must pay the difference if the upgraded course has a higher fee; if lower, the excess is refunded. If the fee is the same, it is auto-adjusted.
What should I do if my payment fails?
Retry before the deadline and contact your bank for verification.
V
Preferences & Program Selection
How do I choose courses and colleges?
List multiple programs (course + institute) in order of preference, most desired first. You may mix courses across faculties and campuses; BHU processes these top-down during allotment.
Can I apply to multiple colleges or programs?
Yes, all as separate preferences within the same CAP application.
Can I reorder my preferences, and what is "Locking"?
Yes, use the "Top, Bottom, and Preference Number" icons before the deadline. "Locking" means the last saved order is automatically finalised after the deadline; edits are not allowed afterward.
Does preference order affect allotment?
Yes, the system tries to allot the highest possible preference based on your merit.
Do I need to upload certificates for each preference?
No, documents uploaded once at registration cover all programs you apply to.
What if I make a mistake in the application?
Correct it before final submission and the deadline. BHU usually offers a short correction window after the deadline for minor errors; after submission, corrections are generally not allowed.
VI
Seat Allotment & Admission
How are seats allotted in CAP-UG?
A computerised system allots seats based on your CUET-UG normalised score, reservation category, and preference order, usually over 4 regular rounds followed by a mid-entry round and spot rounds if seats remain.
How is merit calculated for regular courses vs BFA/BPA?
Regular courses use CUET (UG)-2026 scores alone. BFA/BPA use a composite score of CUET and a Practical Test.
What is PML, and can an SC/ST student get a UR seat?
PML is the Program-wise Merit List. Yes, an SC/ST candidate can get a UR seat if their merit rank falls within the Unreserved criteria.
Is seat allotment final immediately?
No, it is provisional until document verification and fee payment are complete.
What do "Freeze" and "Float" mean?
"Freeze" accepts the current seat as final and exits further rounds. "Float" holds the current seat while you keep trying for a higher preference; you cannot lose your current seat by floating, but must still pay the fee to secure it.
Can I go back to my previous seat after an upgrade, or rejoin after withdrawing?
No, once upgraded the previous seat is permanently cancelled, and once withdrawn you cannot participate in further regular rounds.
Is there any offline or in-person counselling?
No, BHU CAP-UG is fully online; registration, allotment, payment, and admission letters are all handled through the portal.
What are Spot Rounds, and who is eligible?
Spot rounds are held after regular admissions close to fill remaining vacant seats. Candidates not registered earlier, waitlisted candidates, or those who missed fee deadlines are eligible; those who already "Froze" a seat are not.
Is the Spot Round cut-off different, and is it held for BFA/BPA?
Yes, Spot Round cut-offs can be quite different and incomparable to regular rounds. Courses with practical components like BFA/BPA usually don't have Spot Rounds.
What if I miss a round or deadline?
You lose that opportunity, but may still try a Spot Round if one is announced for candidates who missed regular rounds.
VII
Reservation & Quotas
What reservation categories are available at BHU?
BHU follows Government of India norms: SC 15%, ST 7.5%, OBC-NCL 27%, EWS 10%, and PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disability) 5%.
What are supernumerary seats?
Additional seats over the sanctioned intake for specific quotas: Employee Ward (~15%), Sports, ICAR (15% for B.Sc. Agriculture), Foreign Nationals (up to 25%), and BHU Paid Seats. These must be claimed with a certificate at registration.
What certificates are needed for reservations or special quotas?
A valid caste certificate (with "Non-Creamy Layer" for OBC), PwBD certificate (minimum 40% disability), BHU-format sports certificate, BHU employee certificate, or foreign national proof, as applicable.
VIII
Document Verification
Is physical verification of documents required?

What documents do I bring for final admission?

Is an anti-ragging undertaking required?
Yes, a sworn affidavit from both student and parent is required.
What if documents are found invalid or incorrect?
BHU will cancel the admission without notice. Common pitfalls include a missing "non-creamy layer" clause on OBC certificates and category mismatches between NTA and CAP records.
Is hostel accommodation guaranteed?
No, it depends on availability and a 100-point merit scale (80% entrance score + 20% distance).
Whom do I contact for admission help?
Email admission.help@bhu.ac.in or the respective Faculty Admission In-charge.
IX
Tie-Breaking & Merit
What if two candidates have the same CUET score for a program?
BHU applies tie-breaking in sequence: first, higher aggregate percentage in Class XII; then higher percentage in the best three/four subjects; and finally, the older candidate is preferred.
Is Class 12 stream (Science/Arts/Commerce) a factor?
Not directly; what matters is that your chosen CUET paper's subjects match your Class 12 subjects, since eligibility is tied to subjects rather than the stream label.
X
Counseling Process
How many counseling/allotment rounds are there?
Typically 4 regular rounds, followed by Spot Round(s) if seats remain; exact numbers and dates are announced in the official schedule.
Can I withdraw after allotment?
Yes, by not paying the fee or explicitly withdrawing, though your allotted seat will then be cancelled. You may reapply as a fresh candidate in later or spot rounds if allowed.
Will my application remain valid if I don't get a seat this year?
No, CAP-UG applications are valid only for the current admission cycle (2026); a fresh application is required for future years.
XI
Cutoffs & Results
When will seat allotment results be declared?
Round dates are announced after registration closes; allotment lists are published on the CAP portal and emailed to candidates, with rounds spread over several weeks.
What is the expected cut-off?
BHU does not release expected cut-offs in advance; they depend on CUET scores and applicant numbers per program. Previous years' figures are only a rough guide.
Can I check my CUET score/eligibility status on the portal?
Yes, your CUET score is auto-fetched using your application number and shown on your dashboard along with your eligibility status.
